“Everyone thinks they have the best dog,
And none of them are wrong.”
OUR PETS ARE OUR FAMILY.
If you’re like us, you treat your pet like family… because they are family.
Us humans are truly so fortunate to be able to experience the unconditional love of a dog, and we can all agree that the time we get with them is never long enough.
Capturing the special bond between a dog and their human is such a beautiful experience.
Whether you’re welcoming a new pup to the pack, updating your family photos, or honoring the life of your sweet senior, we’d love nothing more than to photograph you and your pet so you can make the memories last a lifetime.
FAQS
-
Absolutely, unless you really don’t want to be. We highly encourage it! The whole goal is to capture photos of you and your pet enjoying the company of each other.
-
If the location/situation allows off-leash dogs and your dog is well trained to be off leash, then there’s no need to keep the leash on. That being said, there are situations where it’s safer (and easier) for our canine family to stay on leash. We have tips and tricks for keeping the leash out of the way so it’s not a distraction in the photos.
We will always prioritize your dog’s safety over getting the “perfect” shot. -
We suggest physically and mentally exercising your dog prior to the shoot, especially if they tend to be high energy. A nice long walk and some brain games ahead of time will help to keep them relaxed during the shoot.
You may also want to schedule a grooming session or give them a bath before the shoot if that’s important to you.
For humans, we suggest dressing in something nice and comfortable. No need to get too fancy, you want to be free to play and be silly with your pup. But definitely go for something you feel confident in too.
It also helps to bring lots of your dog’s favorite treats, and a toy that they like. -
While we absolutely would love to photograph cats, we are unfortunately both allergic. With most cats being indoor only, it makes it a bit trickier for us to shoot comfortably.
But if your cat happens to be outdoor friendly, or the weather allows for a backyard shoot, we’re open to making it happen! -
We totally understand that each and every dog is unique. Our dog, for example, tends to bark at strangers if they try to greet her too quickly. Your session includes a pre-shoot chat where we can discuss your dog’s unique needs and personality. We do our best to make it a positive experience, and the more information we have ahead of time the better!
MEET THE PACK
Sara and Colin Hazard are Southwest-based photographers and filmmakers specializing in story-driven, documentary style content. They are the faces behind the cameras at Passion House Media, where they enjoy working with artists and makers.
When they aren’t working with artists, they enjoy spending quality time with their rescue dog Arrow. The 3 of them can often be found hiking trails, browsing outdoor markets, and snuggling on the couch.
Why family dog portraits?
We wanted to offer these fun photoshoots because we just love dogs and dog people. Plus we thought it would be a great way to promote rescuing by using it as an opportunity to give back to our local rescues. 10% of profits from our Family Dog Portrait sessions go to select rescues in Colorado and New Mexico.
